ASU’s New Sparky Trashed After 3 Weeks

Arizona State made a big to-do about the new-look Sparky it unveiled on March 1 … only to shelve the mascot’s updated look just three weeks later.
The new, cuddlier-looking Sparky was meant to appeal more to younger fans in the form of comic books, children’s books and cartoons, only to be met with a torrent of backlash from the ASU community. As a result, school officials announced on Tuesday that students, alumni, fans, faculty and staff can vote online from April 22 to May 5 on what the new Sparky’s head and face should look like.
It just can’t be called a Sun Devil if it doesn’t look demonic.
