Auburn Shutout Means $55K in Refunds

November 28th, 2012| by

Auburn head coach Gene Chizik aside, no one had more riding on last Saturday’s Iron Bowl between Alabama and Auburn than Jeff Dennis Jewelers in Gardendale, AL.

Dennis promised his customers full refunds on any jewelry bought the week before the big game if there was a shutout. Alabama crushed Auburn, 49-0, meaning that over 300 customers were refunded on jewelry that totaled over $55,000. The real loser here is actually Lloyd’s of London, the insurance company that is actually footing the bill for this promotion.

“CBS should send me a fruit basket,” Dennis told Al.com.

Needless to say, Dennis probably isn’t Lloyd’s of London’s favorite client right now.
