Double Amputee Skydiving Into TTU

November 7th, 2013| by

Texas Tech’s “Lone Survivor” game against Kansas State on Saturday will feature a very special guest in retired U.S. Army sergeant first class Dana Bowman.

Twenty years ago next February, Bowman – then a member of the U.S. Army’s elite parachute team, the Golden Knights – lost both his legs during a training exercise when he collided in mid-air with teammate and sergeant Jose Aguillon, who lost his life in the accident. Yet just five months later, Bowman snuck out of the hospital for his first post-accident skydive.

Nine months after that, he became the first double amputee to re-enlist in the U.S. Army. Since then he has continued to jump and share his inspirational story.

He’ll do so again on Saturday when he parachutes into Jones AT&T Stadium prior to the game in what will be an awesome sight.
