“Featured Video”: 1963 Army vs. Navy

The 1963 Army-Navy game was played mere weeks following John F. Kennedy’s assassination. His wife Jackie insisted that the game – which had been postponed – be played. It was a helpful distraction for a country mourning the loss of its president. Two days before he was killed, Kennedy, a naval hero, telegraphed Navy’s coach: “I hope to be on the winning side when the game ends.” Navy won 21-15. Full clip.
