Gamblers Cash $5,400 On Norfolk Bet

We don’t know anyone outside of NHL star Alexander Ovechkin who had the guts to pick No. 15 seed Norfolk State over No. 2 seed Missouri on Friday in their bracket, much less bet on it.
But a sports fan is claiming on Twitter that three of his friends pooled together $120 to bet on the Spartans, who shocked the Tigers with a dramatic 86-84 victory to become only the fifth No. 15 seed to defeat a No. 2 seed since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985 (Lehigh became the sixth later in the day by defeating Duke).
The three pals apparently struck it big, winning a cool $5,400 – or $1,800 apiece after individually putting up $40 each. With No. 15 seeds still just 6-106 all time against No. 2, we think the trio deserved an even bigger payday.
If these three also had the foresight to bet on Lehigh over Duke, then we’d be even more impressed.
