Kent State’s Andre Parker Goes Wrong Way

June 18th, 2013| by

The first of Kent State’s school-record 11 wins last year was “highlighted” by arguably the funniest blooper from the 2012 college football season.

Leading Towson, 24–7, with 26 seconds remaining in the first half, the Golden Flashes punted the ball away to the Tigers. The ball grazed Towson return man Derrick Joseph and bounded into the waiting hands of Kent State LB Andre Parker – who took off running in the other direction.

The key moments from the above video that make this play comedy gold are:

  • 0:12 – The TV play-by-play announcer pausing before saying rather casually, “Wait a minute … You’re going the wrong way!”
  • 0:19 – A Towson player tackles Parker out-of-bounds at the Kent State 30-yard-line.
  • 0:33 – Parker running to the sidelines and finally realizing that he was running the wrong way the whole time.

Thankfully for Parker, now a rising junior, his epic goof – which was No. 1 on SportCenter’s “Not Top 10” on August 31st – ended up being a harmless one as the ball was dead upon being touched and Kent State rolled to a 41–21 victory.
