Mississippi State TE: ‘Being Gay is Not a Man’ - Lost Lettermen

Mississippi State TE: ‘Being Gay is Not a Man’

February 11th, 2014| by

USF signee Vincent Jackson Jr. has some company in the “foot-in-mouth reaction to the Michael Sam announcement” department courtesy of Mississippi State TE Rufus Warren.

Not only did Warren delete the tweets, he also made his account private and issued a hasty apology to put a stop to what was surely a ton of backlash.

Warren’s comments aren’t just blatantly homophobic, they’re also shortsighted. Sam was the 2013 SEC Defensive Player of the Year, whereas Warren had all of one catch on the season. Yet there’s Warren saying how he looks down on gay football players, when his past performance suggests he’s in no position to do so.
