New Vols Unis Revealed in Video Game

July 23rd, 2013| by

These days, new college football uniforms are typically revealed via a pulse-pounding YouTube video and/or a flashy showcase event. It’s perhaps a sign of the times that the first look people got of Tennessee’s new uniforms came courtesy of a live update to “NCAA Football 14.”

The most noticeable change to the Vols’ threads is on the white away jerseys. UT’s famed checkerboard end zone pattern is embossed into the numbers, with “Tennessee” running in small type above that. On the orange home jerseys, the block “T” is moved down from the V-neck of the collar to right above the numbers.

Having the away numbers in a checkerboard pattern is imaginative but cheesy-looking — at least in the video game. In addition, we’re disappointed that the same tire tread-like jersey we first saw (and panned) on UCLA’s new jerseys has been replicated for another Adidas school. Grade: C
