Providence Hoops Hires God Shammgod

November 10th, 2012| by

The greatest name in college basketball history is back in the game.

That’s right, former Providence legend God Shammgod has been hired by his alma mater as an undergraduate student assistant coach. Shammgod led No. 10 seed Providence to the 1997 Elite Eight before making an ill-advised decision to turn pro early. He played a total of 20 NBA games in his pro basketball career that took him all over the world before his retirement in 2009.

For a Providence program that is attempting to recreate the success the Friars saw in the 1990s, you can bet the “Second Coming” of God Shammgod in Providence will be very well received on campus. God Shammgod profile
