Former Rutgers DT Eric LeGrand’s battle to regain the ability to walk since being paralyzed in a 2010 game against Army has been so inspiring that the Scarlet Knights are honoring him as the first football player in school history to have his number retired.
At American Athletic Conference Media Days on Tuesday, Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood announced that no future player will don LeGrand’s No. 52 — last worn in tribute by LeGrand’s close friend and former teammate Khaseem Greene.
