Tampa WR Will Be FSU’s First True Seminole

January 31st, 2014| by

Tampa Catholic High School wide receiver Justin Motlow was recently rewarded with a preferred walk-on spot to Florida State, guaranteeing him a roster spot but not a scholarship. He will be the first true Seminole to every suit up for the Seminoles.

“That would be a huge honor,” Motlow, who’s one-fourth Seminole on his father’s side, told Warchant.com. “To be able to say that I’m the first real Seminole to be playing on the Seminoles football team would be a huge honor.”

That’s not Motlow’s only motivation. At 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds, he’s been perpetually told that he’s too small for major college football. FSU’s preferred walk-on offer is a chance for him to silence those doubters.

“I’ve heard it’s going to be harder because I’m not the tallest guy or the biggest guy, but I use that to my own gain,” Motlow said. “I had a pretty efficient season this past year, going over 1,000 yards and I enjoy the challenge.”
